Sampling Support

AXYS offers a number of tools to ensure your samples are collected and prepared optimally. This includes analytical methods or combined extractions that reduce the amount of sample needed. These approaches potentially expand the range of analyses possible on limited sample sizes or can reduce sampling costs.

Sample Preparation

AXYS has an adaptable sample preparation group of trained chemists that have extensive experience with a wide array of complex matrices. Using a variety of equipment and techniques, we are able to homogenize and composite your samples to ensure a consistently representative sample.

Sampling Media

AXYS provides you with proofed sampling supplies and media specific to your analytical needs. We have extensive experience preparing sampling equipment including sampling trains, XAD resin, polyurethane foam plugs (PUF), and air sampling cartridges.  Highly reliable proofing of your sampling equipment ensures analyte detection is a function of sampling, not hardware and provides you with reliable results.

Large Volume Water Sampling

Achieving ultra low detection limits in aqueous samples such as those necessary to determine Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL) or risk assessment processes can be challenging to modern analytical capabilities. As a solution, AXYS developed large volume sampling used in conjunction with XAD solid phase extraction. Solid phase extraction selectively removes target analytes from the liquid phase by temporarily binding them to a medium, such as XAD. This allows the concentration of analytes within the column of media as large volumes of liquid pass through the solid XAD packing. Analytes are released from the XAD as part of our extraction process and are analyzed by AXYS to detect the contaminants of your interest or concern. We supply proofed XAD columns to our clients, frequently coupled with a filter applied upstream of the XAD, allowing targets to be categorized as solid bound or soluble.

High volume water sampling can be achieved in the field through technology such as the Infiltrex 300 sampling system, developed by AXYS’s sister company, AXYS Technologies. Benefits to the customer include reductions on associated transportation costs and lower detection limits.
